The heavy spare wheel and dynamic loads put a lot of strain on the original hinges. High wear on the door latch on the lock and the creaking and rattling of the rear door are familiar to many Defender drivers. For this reason,as with the door hinges, we have developed a sturdy hinge set made of an aluminum/titanium alloy from aircraft construction. 

Provided with a replaceable bearing bushing and a stainless steel greasable pin, this hinge set will endure the stresses of the rear door over time without wearing out. External attachments such as a spare tire carrier become unnecessary. In addition, the door seals better with the door rubber and water no longer penetrates into the interior.

Who would like to improve the optics again, can mount these grub screws instead of the grease nipples, which disappear invisibly in the thread.
